I am
very passionate about speech
and presentations! At
university it was already
obvious to me that I
preferred oral exams to
written exams. But I can't
say that I chose the stage
in a very active way. I
liked to be on stage but I
suffered somewhat from stage
fright as well which kept me
away from it for a long
time. That changed when I
started working for VT4. On
July 12th 2002 I did my
first presentation as a news
anchor on television. It was
live and I learned a lot
from this exercise on how to
deal with stage fright. For
two years I was one of the
news anchors. In October
2003 I became news anchor
for a regional television
company, TV Oost, and I
still am today. My TV and
camera experience has given
me some interesting insights
on body language, intonation
and the importance of clear
powerful language.
I present the news once a week now. I still love to be in front of an audience when I give a lecture on my favorite topic 'how to present in a powerful way with PowerPoint, or when I give presentations at events for companies. In 2000 I started as a presentation skills trainer and to my own astonishment I have calculated that I must have transformed at least 3000 PowerPoint presentation by now. I love being on stage but what I love probably most is to help you succeed in your next presentation.
